Oasis Bloom

Welcome to Oasis

Turn a lifeless, frozen planet into the thriving Oasis of your dreams.

Wishlist on Steam

You are the newly appointed Planetary Steward of the Settlement Oversight Committee, and it's your duty to transform the new colony of Oasis from a lifeless, frozen planet into the thriving Oasis of your dreams.

Melt the snow for buildable land, fill the rivers with water and fish, spread meadows and deserts, and revive the long-dead animals that once lived here before the planet froze over. Colonists will join as you terraform the planet, each with their own motivations and roles in the colony, and a few of them can be dated, romanced and married.

Oasis Bloom is in alpha, the game may change massively between versions.

Features

  • Terraform the entire planet with Spreader-Tech machines to help you melt the snow, fill the riverbeds, create sweltering deserts and spread green meadows, while wielding the GeoFab gun to fine-tune the terrain by hand.

  • Mutant seeds break every rule of farming. Grow crops that can only be tended at night, or that wander the fields overnight. Some crops boost other crops, while others swallow their neighbours whole to grow plump and valuable.

  • Rope off a patch of your colony and give it a purpose. Build a campsite and colonists arrive to cook round the fire. Finish a zen zone and they come to unwind. Watch the colonists use and react to your work, turning Oasis into their home.

  • Make big decisions as you terraform. Build homes and communal buildings anywhere you want, and decide what happens when the Orbowell megacorp arrives with a tempting offer for the whole colony.

  • Befriend your neighbours with gifts, do favours, and build your relationships. Some of them are even open to dating, and in time, if the dates go well, marriage.

  • Hand off the daily chores to a small fleet of drones, fish the rivers you filled, climb the Settlement Oversight Committee (SOC) terraformation ranks, and play it all with a controller if you prefer.

Colonists

Every colonist is someone to get to know. Complete their quests to form bonds, build Zones for them to rest and work in, win favour with well-chosen gifts, and hear what they think about your terraforming efforts. Take them on dates and learn the romantic side of SOC bureaucracy.

Joan

Grand Pioneer

Founder of the first off-world colony and a retired SOC board member, she came to Oasis for some peace and quiet. Instead she gets a crashed shuttle with you inside it, and a whole new colony to mother.

Emeric

Community Vision Officer

Injured in the same shuttle crash that brings you to Oasis, he needs your help to recover. Once you get him back on his feet, he shares his visions of events and shared spaces that turn a group of strangers into a real community.

Kassia

Agronomist

The colony's mad-scientist seed specialist, who announces her arrival by crash-landing a shuttle with her son Van aboard. She creates mutant seeds for you to grow and tastes every experiment the moment it comes out of the ground.

Animals

Scan and sequence long-dead species in the digital CAVE and re-release them into the wild, or raise domesticated versions that help the colony.

Animated pixel art of the Frostfinch, a giant blue and white bird

Frostfinch

A hardy, giant bird evolved for the harsh conditions on Oasis. Its powerful body shakes the trees it lands on and drops their fruit for you to gather up.

Animated pixel art of the Cottolope, a round fluffy sheep-like creature

Cottolope

A round, fluffy grazer that wanders the meadows to eat grass and poop biomass for you to boost your machines. Any resemblance this cute alien has to a sheep is purely coincidental.

Animated pixel art of the Driftmare, a ghostly blue horse

Driftmare

An ethereal, towering mare that roams the meadows and phases through solid objects at will. Also makes a great mount.

And more! Discover more wild animals, fish to fill the rivers, and ambient animals to fill the background.

The CAVE

Compositional Assembler of Valued Ecosystems

An ancient machine built by alien hands rebuilds fragments of their lost world as caverns you can walk into, generated fresh for every time you return. Each regenerated ecosystem is stocked with resources, the rarest of them found nowhere else on Oasis. But be careful, nothing inside is stable.

Stay too long in the CAVE and data corruption starts eating it out from under you, with corrupt nanoswarms close behind. Push deeper and the floors grow darker and more unstable, but the resources become richer and rarer. If the corruption catches you, it takes a cut of everything you gathered.

Whatever you carry out feeds the colony and the CAVE itself. Spend data shards and index keys on permanent CAVE upgrades: richer veins, slower collapse, brighter lights, gentler losses. Then grab your throwable torches and decoys and head back in, chasing golden routes and a new personal best depth.
